Hard-Boiled Egg

Private Investigator Harvey G. Day's a former cop who wasn't cut out for the job due to having a conscience. Dealing with the recent lack of business and the serial disappearance of dozens of men including his former partner caused by a coven of witches has got Harvey in a bad place. But when a strange woman shows up at his office he gets a lead that just might help him crack the case and a hard-boiled egg.

This is a 6601 word long urban fantasy noir set in Great Depression era New York where magical beings live in the open. Tone is fairly serious, but it’s not too bleak. There’s some world building and the start of a magic system because I can’t help myself. 

Wrote most of this about three years ago, but never finished until the STWL: Spring Cleaning bundle where authors take one of their WIPs and actually finish the damn thing.
